例文

彼のゴールは、勝利に花を添えた。
ポイント
the icing on the cake
花を添えるもの、さらなる楽しみ、
見栄えを良くするための飾り
（絶対に必要というわけではないが
あれば喜ばれる、
という意味合いがあるようです。）
icing は、
砂糖・卵白に香料などを混ぜ合わせたもので
ケーキなどに塗る糖衣（砂糖ごろも）
のことですが、
（ものの表面にくっついた「氷(ice)」の
イメージから生まれたのかな・・・）
